Loni Kalbhor, (Pune): A 21-year-old student studying at MIT died on the spot after a two-wheeler hit a tractor trolley from behind at MIT corner on Pune-Solapur highway. His twenty-one-year-old companion was seriously injured in the accident. The incident has taken place at MIT Chowk around 2:00 pm on Friday (08:00).
Atharva Kailas Patole (Age – 21, Res. Nashik, Presently Loni Kalbhor, Res. Haveli) is the name of the youth who died in that accident. Arthav’s colleague Rohit Anil Pagar (age – 21) was seriously injured in the accident and is undergoing treatment at Vishwaraj Hospital in a private hospital.
According to the information received, Atharva Patole and Rohit Pagar have been studying at MIT since last year. Atharva was studying in IT while Rohit was studying in CSE. Also they both live together in a society in Loni Kalbhor. On Friday around two o’clock in the afternoon, Loni had left for Kalbhor Baju from MIT corner.
Fifty feet ahead of the corner, his bike rear-ended a tractor trolley. The accident was so terrible that the bike hit the divider and fell on the road leading to Pune. In this, Atharva and Rohit fell on the highway. This time, Atharva was hit on the head, while Rohit’s hand and leg were injured. After that, Aarti Khalche, a police officer of the traffic branch, stopped the traffic and called the ambulance service and sent them to the hospital in Loni Kalbhor.
Meanwhile, both have been admitted to a private hospital in Loni Kalbhor and are undergoing treatment. Medical officials informed that Atharva died during treatment. His accomplice Rohit Pagar is also undergoing treatment. Further investigation is being conducted by Loni Kalbhor police. Meanwhile, assistant police inspector of Loni Kalbhor police station Shivshant Khose, police officer Balaji Bangar visited the spot and conducted panchnama.
The traffic police and their indifference to their work have been blamed for the accident that occurred when a two-wheeler hit a tractor trolley from behind at MIT corner in Kadamwakwasti area on the Pune-Solapur highway. Despite instructions from superiors to deploy traffic police at both Loni station and MIT corner throughout the day, the police are not there. Accidents at both the above intersections have become a matter of routine. The local residents have alleged that the traffic police are ignoring the vehicles on both sides of the MIT corner on the Pune-Solapur highway, and the accidents are taking place.
